Feedback

Thomas

Thanks for such an awesome class. You provided a lovely atmosphere of positivity and fun, and you gave useful and practical feedback to me. Not to mention - you took all the notes to then sent it to us… first class service! Thank you so much, hope you do one of those again some time in 2024! - Thomas

Anita

Awesome course. Fun + learning in a supportive environment. Awesome to have notes on your improv from two very perceptive and experienced teachers.

Kitty

It was a nice group that was keen to learn from.and with eachother. Feedback was well balanced and specific for every individual, but all tips could be used for others too. Loved the specific instructions to train different skills, and seeing the difference it made in a scene if you changed one element.

I found Patti’s approach to improv really insightful. She provides you a way to step back and assess why we do the things we do in improv, and what aspects of play do rules seek to serve. The deconstruction of these assumptions and rules brings intermediate and expert improvisers on to the same level, and that makes for a more fun and safe environment to learn.

Colin

Great workshop, passionate teacher, imparts wisdom and feedback in equal amounts. Great venue, close to local eateries. A full day. Totally enjoyed it, totally drained at the end of the day!

Guanny

Loved the all-day workshop. A great balance of theory and practical tips I can implement in my performances right away to create better, more joyous scenes.

Kitty

Good mix in providing reason why we do games and doing them. Patti is very enthusiastic, good reading the room.snd what students want/ need

Gareth

Fantastic instructor! You really do find a lot out about yourself through the variety of games played and scenes performed as you learn how to improv. Many fun surprises from others in the group and sometimes even from myself! I greatly enjoyed this course.

Dionne

Great class I had lots of fun and learnt things to add to my improv skills. Fantastic to connect with others that share a like interest

Sarah

Loved the workshop with Anděl Sudik! A wonderful experience of bringing greater awareness to using my body, tuning in and being led by my body in Improv (in life too!). Thanks Locomotive!

Kathryn

Fast, fun and informative!

Claire

Thanks for organizing! Wonderful teacher :)

Reshma

This was a really warm, welcoming, inclusive and relaxed space created by Jennifer. It was great to find an option that offers a short course (4 weeks) so great for beginners and those more experienced alike to try this out. Jennifer has great energy and enthusiasm, and great intuition and instinct for leading and gently helping a group develop and grow their skills.

Kitty

Loved the course, it’s like having a different light shine on you as an improvisor. Seeing your strong assets but also from watching others play spitting their best talents and having a go at doing bits you are not so good at. Plus best part is the people, doing scenes with different improvisors helps you grow. Feedback is helpful as you find as well what you need to grow as improvisor. For me it is commit, go for the odd bit out and ride the absurdity curve…. Having 3 word only restriction is helpful.

Is that workshop right for you?

When deciding if a workshop is the right match for your experience, check the Levels under 'Classifications' on the workshop registration page. We use the following general level delineations:
  • Beginner: <1 year, has learned the basics, limited performance experience
  • Intermediate: 2-4 years, strong foundation, general performance experience
  • Experienced: 4+ years, extensive performance experience, director/teacher
  • General: All experiences welcome
  • Teacher: Specifically aimed at teachers, whether for drama, improvisation, or other performance

The categories are a guideline only; we recognise that no two improvisors’ journeys are the same. We ask that participants be honest and practical with their self-evaluation, and to get in touch if you have any questions.
