Locomotive

Spring onto the stage in this three week course, delving into the skills needed for instant songs! This is all about relaxing, rhythm, rhyme, and melody; listening to the music and to your song partners, understanding structures so you can be on the same page, and knowing when it's time to belt out those emotions!

Who is this for? 

This is for anyone interested in musical improvisation, specifically improvised song. Improv training is useful, musical ability is optional.

Workshops are upstairs in Thistle Hall, top of Cuba Street. There is a lift, street parking (paid until 8pm), and bus routes on Taranaki St, Victoria St, and Ghuznee St.

Participants must be vaccinated and follow all 'traffic light' Covid rules.

About the teacher

Jennifer O'Sullivan has a big ol' musical background: she directed improv musicals Suddenly! A Musical, Brothers & Sons, and Spitz & Crumple, assistant directed a real actual opera (The Marriage of Figaro 2017) and studied piano up to Trinity College grade 7 (way back in high school).
